Dante’s T in the park experience: 'T in the Park' , Scotland
8.00am woke up feeling refreshed and excited about the festival.
8.30am try and find the clothes that I’ll be wearing for this evening’s show, could have sworn I left them out for me to iron. Shit, still in the washing machine. Can’t believe it
9.00am after having clothes draped over radiator with hair dryer in hand eventually succeed and hurry out the door
9.30am meeting point for onward journey up to T in the park where I decide I need a couple of double espresso’s to maintain the buzz
11.30am arrive at the site where I am totally bursting for a pee as I have drank 2 litres of water on the road up. Tour manager takes wrong turning into gig, thank God it’s his last show!
12.30pm Laura and I arrive at artist area for start of interviews and press calls, manage to grab another coffee and whip Joss Stone’s ass (at bar football that is)
1.30pm Began interviews at press area where we also had to do a photo shoot in what looked like an underground bunker. Very appropriate I thought, being the President
2.00pm Just been informed that the rest of the band haven’t arrived yet due to our drummer, Dawn having a very late night previous. Her time keeping I must say is atrocious
4.00pm Band have arrived safely and unaware that they have a photo shoot in 10 minutes, and in that space of time manage top disappear, totally oblivious to the fact that no mobile network can be received. Where is the bar
5.00pm Photo shoot done and dusted and now back to artist area where I hook up with Dave Grohl and ensure that Dawn is with me, and then begin to ask him if he was ever a late time keeper with Nirvana. His reply was “Definitely Not!” I looked over at Dawn with a cheesy grin, she tutted and said “but I’m prettier than him!” We all laughed
7.00pm Time to get ready and head over to the X tent for our ritualised huddle chanting “everything’s gonna be alright”
7.40pm Arrive on stage where audience is bursting out the tent totally up for the gig, the rest they say is history as I can never quite remember a live performance as I’m in such a euphoric state of mind apart from some guy throwing a red military hat and a “Lion Rampant” which I then proceed to wear for the rest of the gig. What a night! Only downfall was that it was too short but how proud was I to be Scottish!
